What we teach
Ages 3 – Adult
A studio with a story to tell.
Our dancers have gone on to Broadway, national tours, professional companies, and the Radio City Rockettes. What hasn't changed is the room itself, faculty who know every student by name.
Meet the FacultyWhy the King Centre?
Letters from alumni, parents, and lifelong friends of the studio, in their own words.
I was once asked by a parent if I thought The King Centre for the Performing Arts was the best performing arts school in New Jersey for a child. At first I paused and thought to myself, why would you possibly go anywhere else? This school has so much to offer: history, experience and opportunities.
I am the mother of 3 alumni of the King Centre and the Dance Company. From a Mom's perspective, I think that my children got more from the dance experience than just dance lessons. It helped develop good coordination, agility, strong muscles, good posture, awareness of good nutrition and the importance of adequate sleep, all of which made them good dancers and helped them adjust to the demands of school and other activities.
Is it her loving smile? Is it her infectious warmth? Is it her incredible talent? Is it her love of dance? Is it her love of family? Is it her wealth of knowledge? Is it her years of dedication? Is it her unwavering mission? Is it her grit and determination? Is it her ability to survive and flourish? Is it her strength? Is it her gentle hand?
There is something incredibly special about watching your child fall in love with the same dance studio that helped shape your own childhood. As a former student, I have so many wonderful memories of growing up here, and now I have the privilege of watching my daughter create memories of her own.
“Locally grown, nationally known.”
News 12's Positively New Jersey spotlighted The King Centre, a family-owned studio and staple of the New Jersey dance community for fifty years.
“I enjoy teaching children how to perform and how to be on stage. It's such an honor to be able to do that and see them grow.”
“I have many students that have been in over 30 Broadway shows, very successful teachers, very successful in their fields. But that's not why I teach. I teach just to develop a child.”
