Acro is a style of dance which combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. Students are carefully placed in the appropriate level based upon their technical skills, physical development, and strength. The physical and artistic well-being of the student is the consideration in determining level placement. Because of the nature of this program, it is not unusual to spend more than one year in the same level.
Acro Red ~ A class for beginners, ages 4 and up. This Class works on basic acrobatics technique including beginning tumbling, conditioning, flexibility, proper form and strengthening. Specific skills for this level include forward and backward rolls, straddle forward roll, head stand, cartwheels and bridges.
Acro Green ~ Must have teacher’s recommendation. This class is for intermediate beginners. Skills from Acro Red must be mastered. Beginning intermediate level technique is emphasized. Specific skills for this level include handstands, one-handed cartwheel, round-off, bridge walking, back-bend kick-over, handstand forward roll and front limber.
Acro Orange ~ Must have teacher’s recommendation. This class is for advanced beginners. Skills from Acro Red and Green must be mastered. Advanced beginner level technique is emphasized. Specific skills for this level include holding handstands, back walkover front walkover, back limber, front Arabian and running round-off.

Acro Blue ~ Must have teacher’s recommendation. This class is for intermediate students. Skills from Acro Red, Green and Orange must be mastered. This class emphasizes intermediate level technique. Specific skills for this level include handstand walking, handstand pirouettes, dive front walkover, front handsprings, back handsprings, round-off back handsprings and side aerials.
Acro Purple ~ Must have teacher’s recommendation. This class is for advanced students. Skills from Acro Red, Green, Orange and Blue must be mastered. This class emphasizes advanced level technique. Specific skills for this level include front aerials, cartwheel back handsprings, consecutive back handsprings, consecutive back handspring step outs, round-off back tucks, standing back tucks, round-off layouts and round-off layout step outs. This level also progresses to include connecting round-off back handsprings with back tucks, layouts, and layout step outs.
Acro Black ~ Must have teacher’s recommendation. This class if for our most advanced students. Skills from Acro Red, Green, Orange, Blue and Purple must be mastered. This class emphasizes advanced level technique. Specific skills for this level include front aerials, cartwheel back and springs, consecutive back handsprings, consecutive back handspring step outs, round-off back tucks, standing back tucks, standing layout step outs, round-off layouts and round-off layout step outs. This level also progresses to include connecting round-off back handsprings with back tucks, layouts, and layout step outs. In addition, the class will combine the most difficult skills into acro passes and sequences.
Contortion ~ Must have teacher’s recommendation. In this class, you will focus on increasing flexibility, improving control and balance, and learning contortion moves. Because safety and careful progression are always our most important focus; we may evaluate students on the first day of class to make sure they are ready for the more complex movements that Contortion requires.
